Lawn Mowing in Manoora
One named visit on one fixed day for Manoora house yards, duplex strips and unit frontages, set once by whoever books it and relied on by whoever lives there.
Park at the Manoora District Centre on Pease Street and Council's own description of the suburb is in front of you: a drainage reserve off the edge of the car park, and past the shops small lots, duplexes, triplexes and small unit blocks. With most Manoora homes rented, the round for a house block or a shared frontage is set up once by an agent, landlord or owner and relied on by the tenant or owner at the address. The offer is one plain thing: a named visit, the cut, the edges, the line trim and a blow down of the paths and driveway, on the same day every fortnight, whatever is behind the gate. Send the address through or call 0488 622 205.

Two places orient the suburb: the Manoora District Centre on Pease Street, the shopping strip that takes in Piccones Shopping Village, and Moody Creek Park on Marchant Street behind the Rambutan Close estate. Council's planning documents describe what lies between them without decoration: remnant swamp floor, well-drained sands and waterlogged soils side by side, a high water table, prevailing south-easterlies through the winter months, and ground that its 2024 report calls generally flat. Background sources put the Cairns Western Arterial Road through the middle of it, about four kilometres west of the city centre. The streets were laid out in stages: Charles Woodward's Enmore Estate grid, re-subdivided out of the 1880s land boom, the fruit-named Brookside closes by Moody Creek, Avocado through to Rollinia, where the community garden sits in the Rollinia Close cul-de-sac, and the tree-named Soderberg closes, Beech, Cadaga, Penda, Satinay and the rest, with the register's dates recording survey plans and street names rather than the houses on them. The one school inside the boundary is Holy Spirit College, a small Year 7 to 12 college on Moignard Street, the same street as the Moody Creek drainage reserve.
Why lawn mowing matters in Manoora
Done right the first time.
Fewer than four Manoora homes in ten are separate houses. At the 2021 Census 38.6% of the suburb's 2,419 occupied private dwellings were detached houses against 72.9% across the Cairns council area, 43.5% were flats or apartments against 15.7%, and 46.6% had two bedrooms against 20.8%. Tenure runs the same way: 59.3% of those homes were rented against 35.0% for Cairns, and 41.3% of households were one person against 27.0%. None of that describes a reader; it describes the job. On one street off Pease Street the grass can be a house block with lawn on three sides, the strip beside a duplex, or a frontage shared by a small unit block, which is the mix Council's own 2024 description of the area gives: small lots, duplexes, triplexes and small to medium sized unit developments around the District Centre.
Two things follow. Where most homes are rented, a Manoora yard often has two customers at once: the agent or landlord who sets up the round, and the tenant or owner at the address who wants it done on a fixed day without having to be there. That yard needs an arrangement that can be set once and relied on without anyone at the address being involved, which is what the same day every fortnight promise is for, and why the standard visit is named in full, the cut, the edges, the line trim and a blow down of the paths and driveway, so that whoever checks the yard between inspections knows what was meant to happen.
The other thing is the ground. Council's precinct plan for Manunda and Manoora describes remnant swamp floor with well-drained sands and waterlogged, disturbed soils together, a high water table, and a microclimate exposed to strong south-easterly winds through the winter months. The Bureau of Meteorology's Cairns Aero station, a Cairns figure rather than a Manoora one, averages 2,025.5mm of rain a year, with January, February and March each above 400mm and July, August and September each below 35mm. One fixed fortnightly day carries a lawn through both halves of that year. Mulch mowing, the method Trisim specialises in, cuts the clippings fine and returns them to the root zone, where the business states they act as a free natural fertiliser and help the soil hold moisture. On the streets backing onto the suburb's registered drainage reserves along Jensen Street, Oregon Street, Ireland Crescent, Centenary Close and Moignard Street, keeping the clippings on the lawn also keeps them out of whatever lies behind the fence.
How we look after your place

The streets behind the Manoora District Centre, and the visit that does not change
Council's 2024 description of the area around the District Centre on Pease Street is a mix of small lots, duplexes, triplexes and small to medium sized unit developments, with detached housing, townhouses and apartment buildings side by side. The Census puts numbers on it: detached houses are fewer than four in ten of the suburb's occupied dwellings, flats or apartments more than four in ten, and semi-detached, row or terrace houses and townhouses a further 13.6%.
One Pease Street block can hold three kinds of yard, and the customer with a duplex strip has the same question as the one with a full house block: what exactly is being done, and when. If the answer shifts from one dwelling type to the next, nobody at the address can check it.
The visit is the same named thing at every one of them: the cut, the edges, the line trim and a blow down of the paths and driveway, on the same day every fortnight. What differs from a house block to a shared frontage is the yard, not the list of what gets done. Ring 0488 622 205 with the address and the kind of dwelling, and the round is set from there.

Moody Creek, six drainage reserves, and the back fence the clippings never go over
Council's local law schedule registers six drainage reserves in Manoora: Jensen Street East at Oregon Street and Jensen Street, Jensen Street North, Jensen Street West at Ireland Crescent, Maytown Close at Centenary Close, the Moody Creek drainage reserve on Moignard Street, and the Woodward Park drainage reserve on Jensen Street, with Moody Creek Park itself on Marchant Street. Moody Creek runs through the suburb, and the Moignard Street reserve carries its name.
Where a yard backs onto one of those reserves, the land over the back fence is on Council's register. Across the whole of Cairns, moving garden waste, mulch, turf or soil off a property is restricted for everyone, private or commercial, inside the electric ant biosecurity zone, unless it is going to a waste facility that accepts electric ant carriers or moves under a biosecurity instrument permit. A bag of clippings tipped over the fence is the wrong answer on both counts.
Mulch mowing is Trisim's method: the clippings are cut fine and returned to the root zone of the lawn they came from, so there is nothing to bag, nothing to move and no clipping-removal cost, and the business states they act as a free natural fertiliser. The blow down at the end of the visit clears the paths and driveway. Nothing from the mow needs to go anywhere near the fence. If the yard backs onto one of the reserves, mention it when you call 0488 622 205.

Sandy ground and waterlogged ground in the same Manoora yard
Council's precinct plan for Manunda and Manoora describes the soil as 'remnant swamp floor with dominantly well drained sands and water logged and disturbed soils', and notes a high water table. Rainfall at the Bureau of Meteorology's Cairns Aero station, quoted as a Cairns figure rather than a Manoora one, peaks at 437.5mm in February, 422.1mm in March and 404.8mm in January, with roughly sixteen rain days in each of those months.
On ground like that, one corner of a yard can be dry enough to cut while another is still holding the last fall, and a fortnight of wet-season growth is not something a resident without a mower can catch up on, or an owner who is not there can see happening.
The answer is the day, not the weather. The round is the same day every fortnight through the wet as through the dry, and mulch mowing returns the clippings to the root zone rather than leaving wet cut grass to be raked and carted. Book the day once and the wet season is handled on that day, every fortnight. Send the address through, or call 0488 622 205.
A swamp-floor yard does not dry off all at once
Three official records decide what the dry season means for a Manoora yard. Council's precinct plan puts Manoora on remnant swamp floor, with well-drained sands and waterlogged, disturbed ground side by side and a water table it allows may be high. Council's local law schedule registers six drainage reserves behind the streets, along Jensen Street, Oregon Street, Ireland Crescent, Centenary Close and Moignard Street. The Bureau's Cairns Aero record, a Cairns figure rather than a Manoora one, gives 33.2mm of rain for July, 26.5mm for August and 34.1mm for September.
The dry does not arrive evenly on that ground. Through those three months a sandy stretch can go pale and slow while the run of lawn along a reserve fence can still be growing, so one yard can look finished from the footpath and still want the mower at the back. That is not a call for a tenant to make fortnight by fortnight, and an agent checking between inspections cannot make it from the street.
So the round does not change for the dry. The visit lands on the same day every fortnight in September as it does in February, and the whole yard gets the named visit, the run along a reserve fence included, not only the part that shows from the street. Ask for the fortnightly round and it stays fortnightly through the dry. Call 0488 622 205 or send the address through.
The work that keeps a Cairns property looking its best

Fortnightly Lawn Mowing
A standing fortnightly round: cut, edges, line trim and a blow down of the paths and driveway.
In Manoora the same visit lands on a house block on one street and a duplex strip or a unit frontage on the next, because that is the mix Council describes around the Pease Street centre. Each gets the full list, cut, edges, line trim and blow down, on the same day every fortnight, and the clippings are mulch mowed back into the lawn rather than bagged, which is the method the business specialises in.

Green Waste Removal
Clippings, prunings and clearing waste carried off the property.
The heaviest version of this work is on Trisim's own channels: a lawn and grass clearing that ran eight hours and filled many tarp loads, posted business-wide rather than from Manoora. Everyone in the Cairns council area is inside the electric ant biosecurity zone, where garden waste, mulch, turf and soil cannot be moved off a property without a biosecurity instrument permit, and moving them to a waste facility that accepts electric ant carriers does not need one. For a let-go yard behind a Manoora rental, that is the job to ask about before the fortnightly round starts.

Garden Mulching
Garden beds mulched from four supply options: Aussie Bush, Premium Red Cypress, Tea Tree and Caribbean Pine Bark.
The beds are the part of a Manoora frontage that a fortnightly mow does not touch, and on a duplex or unit frontage they are often most of what shows from the street. Trisim supplies four mulches: Aussie Bush from recycled green waste, Premium Red Cypress, which the business lists as termite-repelling, seasonal Tea Tree, and Caribbean Pine Bark for slow breakdown and weed blocking. Which of the four suits depends on the bed, and mulch mowing looks after the lawn side in the meantime by returning fine clippings to the root zone.

High Pressure Cleaning
Driveways, paths and concrete surfaces washed back with a pressure cleaner.
Pressure washing driveways and concrete is work Trisim posts on its own channels, business-wide rather than from Manoora. Around the District Centre, where Council describes duplexes, triplexes and small unit developments, the concrete is often a shared driveway or a common path, so the blow down at the end of each mow keeps it clear between washes and a wash resets it when the mow alone cannot.
A Cairns team you can trust with the keys
Whoever books a Manoora yard sets the arrangement once, and whoever lives there relies on it, so what stands behind the arrangement should be checkable. Trisim is Trina and Simon's business: veteran-owned and family-run, a team of five to ten, operating since 2021 under ABN 24 306 689 336, insured for public liability, with a police-checked crew. The published promise has three parts: turn up the same day every fortnight, guarantee the work, and only do the work that was quoted so there are no surprises. Under that promise sit the Australian Consumer Law guarantees: a service must be carried out with acceptable care and skill and, where no time frame was agreed, within a reasonable time, and those rights cannot be taken away by anything a business says or does. The quote is free, and somebody attends the property to produce it rather than pricing the job over the phone. There are no customer reviews to quote here; the jobs Trisim posts on its own channels are business-wide, not Manoora ones.
Common questions from Cairns residents
Not ours to cut, and not yours either. It is on Council's own register: Subordinate Local Law No. 11 lists the Jensen Street East drainage reserve at Oregon Street and Jensen Street among six registered drainage reserves in Manoora. On a property backing onto council-controlled reserve land, Trisim quotes the mowing to the property boundary and reports the overgrown reserve to Council instead of cutting into it. The law backs that: under Part 7 of Local Law No. 11, clearing vegetation in a local government controlled area needs a permit, which sits with Council rather than with a mowing contractor. Reporting it carries no timeframe or outcome we can promise.
The rainfall changes; the day does not. At the Bureau of Meteorology's Cairns Aero station, quoted as Cairns figures, January, February and March each average more than 400mm with rain roughly every second day, while July, August and September each average under 35mm. Council puts Manoora on remnant swamp floor with a high water table, with south-easterlies through winter. So there is far more growth to keep up with in the wet than in the dry, and the visit stays on the same day every fortnight in both. Mulch mowing serves both: the clippings return to the root zone, where the business states they feed the lawn and hold moisture.
A crew from a veteran-owned family business run by Trina and Simon, five to ten people in all, operating since 2021 under ABN 24 306 689 336, covered by public liability insurance and police-checked. There are no customer reviews to point you to, only the jobs Trisim posts itself, business-wide rather than from Manoora. The visit arrives on the same day every fortnight, and the published promise is to guarantee the work and only do what was quoted, so an agent or owner who never sees the yard can check it against a fixed list. If the gate is locked or the yard is reached through a shared path, say so when you book.
Manoora does not stop at the arterial: background sources describe the suburb as straddling the Cairns Western Arterial Road, so there is Manoora on both sides of it. Council's street register records Reservoir Road running through Kanimbla and Manoora, named because it travels toward the City Reservoir, and records Kanimbla as excised from Manoora and Mooroobool by the Governor in Council in February 1989, so the boundary out that way is a line on a map, not the road. An address on either side of the arterial gets its own fixed day, the same day every fortnight. Check the suburb on your lease or rates notice and give the street when you call.

Need lawn mowing in Manoora?
The question to settle for a Manoora yard is not how big it is but who is responsible for it, and it only needs settling once, by whoever books: the agent or landlord behind a rented duplex, or the owner of a house on one of the detached streets. Grass belonging to the other half of a duplex, or common property that belongs to a body corporate, is a different question, so ask us before booking. The quote is free and it is produced at the property, so the yard, the edges and the shared concrete are looked at before any figure is given. From there it is one named visit on one fixed day, every fortnight, and the day does not depend on anyone being home. Call 0488 622 205, or send the address and the type of dwelling through the form below.
